Description

Italian Burgers are a delicious fusion of traditional grilling and the rich flavors of Italian cuisine, perfect for summer barbecues or cozy family dinners. This easy recipe features juicy ground beef combined with flavorful turkey sausage, topped with melty mozzarella and zesty marinara sauce. Customize your burger with fresh basil or creamy aioli for a delightful twist that will impress everyone at your table.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground sirloin
  • 8 ounces Italian turkey sausage
  • 1 ½ teaspoons Italian seasoning
  • ½ teaspoon kosher salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • 812 slices mozzarella cheese
  • 46 chicken hamburger buns or Italian rolls
  • 1 cup marinara sauce
  • Butter for toasting buns
  • ¾ cup mayo
  • 2 teaspoons lemon juice (fresh)
  • 1 clove garlic, fresh (finely minced)
  • 1 tablespoon basil, fresh (finely minced)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix mayo, lemon juice, minced garlic, and chopped basil to create the aioli; refrigerate until needed.
  2. Preheat your grill or indoor grill pan over medium heat.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine ground sirloin and turkey sausage (remove casings from sausage if necessary).
  4. Season the meat mixture with Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper; gently mix until combined.
  5. Form equal-sized patties (6 small/medium or 4 large) and grill for about 3-4 minutes per side until cooked through (internal temperature of 165°F).
  6. In the last minute of cooking, add mozzarella slices on top of each patty to melt.
  7. Meanwhile, butter the buns and toast them on the grill until golden brown.
  8. Assemble by spreading aioli on toasted buns, placing a patty inside, topping with marinara sauce and fresh basil if desired.
