Ingredients
- 1/2 cup warmed whole milk
- 1 tsp active dry yeast
- 1/3 cup granulated sugar
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1 large egg
- 3/4 cup diced fresh strawberries
- 1/2 cup strawberry preserves
- 1 tsp granulated sugar
- 2 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1 tbsp unsalted butter, softened
- 1/2 cup confectioners' sugar
- 3 tbsp whole milk
- 1/4 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, combine the warmed milk and active dry yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.
- Add granulated sugar, salt, melted unsalted butter, and the egg to the yeast mixture. Mix well until combined.
- Gradually add all-purpose flour to the mixture while stirring until a soft dough forms.
- Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 5–7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover with a kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- While the dough rises, mix diced strawberries with strawberry preserves in a small bowl until well combined.
- Once risen, punch down the dough gently. Roll it out on a floured surface into a rectangle about ½ inch thick.
- Spread the strawberry filling evenly over the rolled-out dough.
- Starting from one edge of the rectangle, roll the dough tightly into a log shape.
- Cut into equal pieces (about 12) using a sharp knife or dental floss.
- Place cut rolls on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Cover with a towel and let them rise again for about 30 minutes while you preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Bake in preheated oven for about 25 minutes or until golden brown on top.
- In a mixing bowl, beat together softened cream cheese and butter until creamy.
- Gradually add confectioners' sugar while mixing well; then stir in whole milk and vanilla extract until smooth.
- Once rolls have cooled slightly after baking, drizzle glaze over them before serving.
