Ingredients
- 500 g ground beef
- 1 medium red onion
- 4 cloves garlic
- 3 stalks celery
- 400 g chopped tomatoes
- 2 tablespoons tomato purée
- 400 g mixed beans in chili sauce
- 200 ml beef stock
- 1 tablespoon dried thyme
- 1 ½ teaspoon chili powder
- 2 teaspoons cumin
- 1 tablespoon cocoa powder or 1 small square of dark chocolate
- 1 tablespoon smoked paprika
Instructions
- Brown the ground beef with diced onions and minced garlic in a skillet over medium heat for about 10 minutes.
- Transfer the mixture to your slow cooker and add chopped tomatoes, tomato purée, mixed beans, beef stock, thyme, chili powder, cumin, cocoa powder (or dark chocolate), and smoked paprika. Stir well.
- Cover and cook on low for 8 hours or high for 5 hours until flavors meld together beautifully.
