  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (cold and cubed)
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup ice water
  • 1 cup light corn syrup
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups pecan halves
  • 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Prepare the pie crust by mixing flour, salt, and sugar in a bowl. Cut in cold butter until crumbly. Add ice water and form into a disk. Chill for at least 30 minutes.
  2. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  3. Roll out the chilled dough on a floured surface to about 1/8 inch thick and transfer it to a pie pan. Prick the bottom with a fork.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together corn syrup, brown sugar, cocoa powder, eggs, and vanilla until smooth. Stir in pecans and chocolate chips.
  5. Pour the filling into the crust and bake for 50-60 minutes until set in the center.
  6. Allow cooling on a wire rack for at least 2 hours before slicing.
