  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/4 cup onion, finely chopped
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1/2 cup pineapple juice (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch, dissolved in 1 tablespoon water (for thickening)
  • Sliced green onions for garnish
  • Sesame seeds for garnish
  • Fresh pineapple chunks for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine ground beef (or turkey/chicken), breadcrumbs, milk, egg, onion, garlic, soy sauce, salt, and pepper. Mix until just combined.
  3. Shape mixture into 1-inch meatballs and place on a lined baking sheet.
  4. Bake for about 20 minutes or until cooked through.
  5. For the sauce, combine ketchup, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, soy sauce, and optional pineapple juice in a saucepan over medium heat. Stir until mixed well.
  6. Add baked meatballs to the saucepan and coat evenly with the sauce.
  7. Serve hot, garnished with sliced green onions, sesame seeds, and fresh pineapple chunks.
