Description

Mexican Flan is a rich, creamy dessert that captures the essence of traditional Mexican cuisine. This timeless treat features a luscious custard base made from eggs, evaporated milk, and condensed milk, all topped with a glossy layer of caramel.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 large eggs
  • 1 (12 oz) can evaporated milk
  • 1 (14 oz) can condensed milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup sugar (for caramel)
  • Hot water (for the water bath)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Caramel: In a saucepan over medium heat, melt 1 cup of sugar until it turns golden brown. Quickly pour it into a round cake pan.
  2. Blend the Flan Mixture: In a blender, combine the eggs, evaporated milk, condensed milk, and vanilla extract. Blend until smooth.
  3. Assemble for Baking: Pour the custard mixture over the caramel in the cake pan. Place it in an oven-safe dish filled halfway with hot water.
  4. Bake: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake for about 50 minutes or until the center is set.
  5. Chill and Serve: Allow it to cool at room temperature before refrigerating for at least 4 hours. Unmold onto a plate to serve.
