  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1/4 cup sour cream
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 11/2 teaspoons sugar
  • 11/2 teaspoons salt
  • 3 cups bread flour
  • 1/8 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 cup minced chives
  • 21/4 teaspoons active dry yeast

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine milk, water, sour cream, butter, sugar, salt, and yeast until well mixed.
  2. Gradually add bread flour while stirring; incorporate baking soda and chives.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth.
  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and let rise in a warm place until doubled (about 1 hour).
  5. Punch down the dough gently and shape it into a loaf for the pan.
  6. Place the shaped dough in the loaf pan to rise again until doubled (approximately 30 minutes).
  7. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake for about 30–35 minutes or until golden brown.
  8. Allow cooling in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
