Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease/flour the Bundt pan.
  2. In a large bowl, mix together the cake mix, sour cream, vegetable oil, eggs, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth. Fold in chocolate chips if desired.
  3. Pour batter into the prepared pan and bake for 45-50 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.
  4. Let cool for about 10-15 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
  5. To make caramel sauce: Combine brown sugar, heavy cream, butter, and salt in a saucepan over medium heat; stir until thickened (5-7 minutes). Stir in vanilla extract.
  6. For the topping: Toast pecans in a skillet with melted butter and sugar until golden brown.
  7. Drizzle warm caramel over the cooled cake and sprinkle toasted pecans on top.
