Ingredients
- 1 lb. spaghetti
- 1 lb. ground beef
- 1/3 cup bread crumbs
- 1/4 cup finely chopped parsley
- 1/4 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese (plus more for serving)
- 1 large egg
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 Tbsp. extra-virgin olive oil
- 1/2 cup onion, finely chopped
- 1 (28 oz.) can crushed tomatoes
- 1 bay leaf
Instructions
- Cook the spaghetti according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- In a mixing bowl, combine ground beef, bread crumbs, parsley, Parmesan, egg, garlic, salt, and red pepper flakes. Mix gently and form into 16 meatballs.
- Heat olive oil in a non-stick skillet over medium heat. Brown meatballs on all sides for about 10 minutes; remove from skillet.
- In the same skillet, sauté onion until softened (about 5 minutes). Stir in crushed tomatoes and bay leaf; season with salt and pepper. Simmer.
- Return meatballs to the sauce; cover and simmer until cooked through (about 8–10 minutes).
- Serve over spaghetti with additional Parmesan cheese.
