Ingredients
- 4 medium yellow onions
- ½ pound ground beef
- 1 cup shredded Gruyere cheese
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 3 tablespoons olive oil, divided
- 1 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1 ½ teaspoons chicken hamburger seasoning
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper
- ½ teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Slice off the tops of the onions and hollow them out carefully.
- Melt butter and 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a skillet over medium heat; sauté the hollowed onions for about 5 minutes until softened.
- In the same skillet, add another tablespoon of olive oil and cook ground beef until browned (7–10 minutes). Stir in seasonings and Worcestershire sauce; cook for an additional 2 minutes.
- Generously stuff each onion with the beef mixture and top with shredded Gruyere cheese.
- Place stuffed onions in a baking dish, drizzle with remaining olive oil, cover with foil, and bake for 30 minutes. Remove foil and bake an additional 15 minutes until cheese is bubbly.
