Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 medium yellow onions
  • ½ pound ground beef
  • 1 cup shredded Gruyere cheese
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil, divided
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1 ½ teaspoons chicken hamburger seasoning
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Slice off the tops of the onions and hollow them out carefully.
  3. Melt butter and 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a skillet over medium heat; sauté the hollowed onions for about 5 minutes until softened.
  4. In the same skillet, add another tablespoon of olive oil and cook ground beef until browned (7–10 minutes). Stir in seasonings and Worcestershire sauce; cook for an additional 2 minutes.
  5. Generously stuff each onion with the beef mixture and top with shredded Gruyere cheese.
  6. Place stuffed onions in a baking dish, drizzle with remaining olive oil, cover with foil, and bake for 30 minutes. Remove foil and bake an additional 15 minutes until cheese is bubbly.
