  • 6 cups apples, peeled and sliced
  • ¾ cup sugar
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon nutmeg
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour

Instructions

  1. Prepare the crust by mixing flour, salt, and sugar in a bowl; cut in chilled butter until crumbly. Gradually add cold water until a dough forms. Divide and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
  2. Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C).
  3. Roll out one dough half into a circle and place it in a pie dish. Trim edges.
  4. For the filling, combine sliced apples with sugar, lemon juice, cinnamon, nutmeg, and flour.
  5. Pour the filling into the crust; cover with the second rolled-out dough and seal edges.
  6. Bake for 15 minutes at 425°F (220°C), then reduce temperature to 350°F (175°C) and bake for another 35-45 minutes until golden brown.
