Instructions

  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Add eggs, milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract; mix until smooth. Gradually stir in hot coffee.
  3. Divide the batter among the prepared pans and bake for 25–30 minutes until a toothpick inserted comes out clean. Cool completely on wire racks.
  4. For the orange filling, combine sugar, cornstarch, egg yolks, and orange juice in a saucepan over medium heat while stirring until thickened; remove from heat and add zest and butter.
  5. To make ganache, heat cream until steaming; pour over chopped chocolate and let sit for 2 minutes before stirring until smooth.
  6. Assemble the cake by layering it with orange filling between each layer. Pour ganache over the top allowing it to drip down the sides.
